Department news
The University of Missouri's Department of Biochemistry ranks No. 8 in research grants among biochemistry departments at the nation's public medical schools and No. 20 of all medical school departments of biochemistry, according to a recent tabulation by the Association of American Medical Colleges in Washington, D.C.
"Research funding to our department has doubled in the last five years," said Gerald Hazelbauer, an MU professor and chair of biochemistry. "This is the result of the competitiveness and stature of a creative faculty at the cutting edge of research in the life sciences."
The Association of American Medical Colleges is a nonprofit association representing all 125 accredited U.S. and 17 accredited Canadian medical schools.
