Variety of research areas, multidisciplinary approach.
Faculty support
I started with no lab/science experience whatsoever and received a lot of help and encouragement. My committee — and especially my mentor — are very helpful in focusing and directing my project.
Career plans
Cancer research, probably academia.
Outside the lab
I have a toddler and an infant. I enjoy movies at Ragtag Cinema, Irish step dance (there are people who do such stuff in Columbia!) and canoeing (the only time my little girl will sit for a few hours).
Best things about Columbia
Parks, great playgrounds and outdoor pools. You can get across town in 20 minutes. Lots of fun activities.
