Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, University of Missouri
Webster Groves, Mo.
Proteomic analysis of plant seeds, determining the biosynthetic pathways that dictate seed filling. My research is centered on the branch of proteomics called phosphoproteomics.
Mass spectrometry, two-dimensional gel electrophoresis, affinity chromatography and general molecular biology techniques.
An extremely strong collaborative research effort. The fun and friendly environment allows research communities to work together, students and faculty to broaden their scientific knowledge and the department to succeed as a whole.
I have been able to turn to the faculty for help with class work, and they have also been very helpful outside of the classroom. They are more than willing to answer any questions that arise from time to time in my research.
I plan to pursue a post-doctoral position. On completion of my post-doctoral work, I intend to apply for a faculty position at a university.
I am currently vice president of the Biochemistry Graduate Student Organization (BGSO).
I enjoy fishing, camping, biking, tennis, soccer and hiking.
The outdoors and its many great parks. Whether it’s hanging out at Cooper’s Landing on the Missouri River, canoeing across Little Dixie Lake or biking the trails at Rock Bridge State Park, I really enjoy the outdoors here and the variety of options that come with it.
